Advanced Vocal Massage Training mit Stephen King & Robert Price Evidence-Based Approaches for Voice and Breathing Disorders

Advanced Vocal Massage Training – Deep Practice for Voice Professionals
Led by Stephen King & Robert Price
This 3-day Advanced Vocal Massage Training is designed for experienced clinicians and practitioners who have completed the initial six-day Intensive Course with Stephen King. It offers a unique chance to deepen your clinical understanding, refine your manual skills, and explore new insights into evidence-based therapy for Laryngopharyngeal Reflux (LPR) and breathing pattern disorders. Through guided practice, discussion, and reflection, you will learn how to integrate the latest research and therapeutic strategies into your existing work — creating safe, effective, and sustainable outcomes for your clients who rely on optimal voice and breathing function.
The Advanced Vocal Massage Training provides a rich learning environment — one where theory meets tactile practice, and where every technique is anchored in both evidence and compassion. You’ll leave with renewed confidence, sharper diagnostic ability, and refined manual precision that will transform your approach to voice and breathing care. The seminar is also suitable for participants with basic English skills. On the one hand, there will be someone available to translate or assist with language questions, and on the other hand, most techniques will not only be explained theoretically but also demonstrated in practice.
Why This Training Matters
In professional voice care, precision and safety are everything. Dysfunctional breathing patterns, muscular tension, and reflux-related inflammation can severely impact vocal performance and rehabilitation outcomes. This course bridges science and manual technique to deliver results that are both clinically sound and musically sensitive. Stephen King and Robert Price combine decades of international clinical and teaching experience to help you recognize subtle dysfunctions in the laryngeal, pharyngeal, and cervical systems — and treat them confidently with manual and integrative approaches that enhance mobility, functional alignment, and vocal health.
What You Will Learn
1. Evidence-Based Clinical Frameworks
Explore the latest science behind LPR and respiratory disorders, with clear diagnostic and differential diagnostic insights. Gain a deeper understanding of how these conditions manifest and interact within voice and airway function.
2. Practical Manual Techniques
Refine your hands-on approach with advanced maxillofacial, myofascial, and laryngeal release techniques. Learn how to integrate medical acupuncture, low-level laser therapy, and other evidence-informed modalities safely into your clinical workflow.
3. Voice-Focused Assessment Tools
Apply new assessment and palpation strategies to accurately map and evaluate muscular and fascial patterns that affect voice production and breathing. These tools enhance precision and confidence in your manual interventions.
4. Integration and Reflection
Revisit and expand on key concepts from the original intensive course. Discuss your clinical experiences, reflect on patient outcomes, and refine your treatment protocols with collegial input and expert guidance.
The Philosophy: Pain-Free Practice
Stephen King is internationally recognized for his “pain-free practice” methodology — a paradigm that rejects the outdated notion of “good pain” in therapy. In this approach, any sensation of pain is considered an indicator of potential threat, not therapeutic progress.
You will learn how to conduct manual work around the throat, jaw, and neck with exceptional sensitivity and precision, ensuring that your interventions are not only effective but also comfortable and ethically sound.

This advanced seminar is ideal for:
- Speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, and manual therapists specializing in voice disorders,

Aufbau
Tag 1
Day 1
On the first day, participants will be guided through a comprehensive recap of the full Vocal Massage training techniques. This includes both the theoretical foundation and practical application, with the aim of consolidating previously learned methods, refining techniques, and reflecting on them in light of new insights. There will be space for individual questions, discussion, and the sharing of experiences from clinical practice.
Day 2
The second day will focus on respiratory anatomy. Together, we will explore evidence-informed treatment options for breathing pattern disorders, with a strong emphasis on manual therapy approaches. Participants will learn how to assess and address dysfunctional breathing patterns through techniques such as thoracic mobilisation, diaphragmatic release, and myofascial work on accessory respiratory muscles.
Day 3
On the third day, we will turn our attention to the lower esophageal sphincter and its key role in laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR). We will explore specific manual therapy techniques designed to identify and treat functional restrictions in this area. A special highlight will be the presentation and discussion of Stephen King’s own published research on manual therapy for reflux management – including practical application and critical reflection on its outcomes within a therapeutic framework.
